Justice in Tarot

Meaning, love, work, money and advice

Justice
Group: Major Arcana
Number: XI
Keywords: balance, truth, consequence
Yes or no: Maybe

Justice is the card of balance and truth. It says everyone will receive exactly what they deserve.

What Justice means

Justice is arcanum XI and represents the law, honesty and consequences. Where she appears, nothing is decided by luck: it's decided by facts, actions and responsibilities.

In a spread, she asks for clarity. If you've acted truthfully, the card is your ally. If there's been an imbalance, she shows there will be a settling of accounts — in or out of court.

She's also the card of well-weighed decisions: weighing everything before you choose, without letting emotion decide on its own.

The card image

A figure sits between two pillars, holding a raised sword in one hand and a set of scales in the other. The sword cuts through what's false; the scales weigh the facts; the pillars are the law that doesn't bend.

Justice in love

In love, she speaks of balance and fairness. Fair relationships, where both give equally, are favored; unbalanced ones come to light. She can point to formal decisions, like a legal separation, dividing property or an official commitment. In reconciliations, getting back together depends on taking responsibility.

What do they feel for me? Justice in feelings

For “what do they feel for me?”, Justice shows someone who is weighing things up. The feeling is there, but it's being weighed against everything else: the past, obligations, consequences. This is a person who doesn't decide on emotion and will only move forward when they believe it's fair to both of you.

Justice at work

At work, she favors contracts, agreements and legal proceedings. If there's a pending legal matter, it tends to be resolved fairly. Good for people who work in law, accounting or mediation.

Justice and money

In finances, she asks you to get your accounts in order: taxes, debts, settlements. She can point to money you're owed that finally arrives.

Justice reversed

Reversed, she speaks of injustice, postponed decisions, dishonesty or a lack of responsibility. It may be someone running from the consequences — even if only for a little while.

Combinations with other cards

Justice with The Emperor: paperwork, contracts and official decisions.

Justice with The Lovers: a choice that has to be made honestly.

Justice with the Ten of Swords: a painful process that comes to an end and closes a matter.

Justice in a yes-or-no reading

In Yes or No Tarot, Justice answers maybe. The outcome depends on what you do next.

Mestre Cruz's advice

Be honest with yourself first. Look at your part in the situation and fix whatever is yours to fix. The rest will sort itself out.
